Property In Scarborough

The largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast, the Scarborough fishing port is also home to a growing digital and creative industry and a campus of Coventry University, as well as remaining a hub of tourism. The recent opening of the Sirius mineral mine on the North Yorkshire Moors just north of the town is also contributing to Scarborough’s economic vibrancy and creating fresh employment opportunities.

On a high rocky outcrop that divides the town’s North and South Bays stand the 11 th Century ruins of Scarborough Castle. The South bay was the original medieval settlement site and harbor and is still the main tourist area today, featuring a sandy beach as well as cafes and amusement arcades. North Bay features the picturesque Peasholm Park and miniature North Bay Railway – thought to be the oldest operational diesel-hydraulic locomotive in the world – which transports visitors between there and the town’s Sea Life Centre.

The town also formed the backdrop for ITV television drama The Royal and The Royal Today.
